Paesaggio marino, 1990

Galvanized sheet
250 × 400 × 120 cm
The genres of painting
The frames are empty; only by virtue of their proportions do they refer to traditional artistic genres: the one with the horizontal format, Seascape, alludes to the classical landscape measure; the square one to the proportions of Still Life; the narrow and elongated one to Full-length Portrait.
Seascape establishes a relationship with the horizontal format of traditional painting, only to sabotage it with its absence.
The imaginary seascape overlaps with what is framed in each exhibition occasion.
